The Downeast Multiple Listing Service (DEMLS) was formed under the auspices of the Hancock-Washington Board of REALTORS® in 1978. The DEMLS is the
oldest, and only other operating MLS in the state.
The DEMLS is a locally-controlled multiple listing service allowing member agencies to post their listing to a shared site. Various types of data
are compiled and shared with its members via this medium. DEMLS listings are also entered into REALTOR.com and Downeast Maine IDX on the DEMLS
website.
The DEMLS Board of Directors is annually elected by member participants and is responsible for all aspects of the DEMLS. The DEMLS offers a
top-of-the-line Internet-based operating system, MLXchange.
Prior to 2003 the DEMLS was restricted to REALTORS® only. DEMLS is now available to all real estate agencies. REALTORS® and other real
estate professionals are under no obligation to join a MLS service.
